Queen Strenlan in her Palace

Erin turned to face the heavy doors at the far end of the disheveled hall. She knew The Stone Council would be calling for her soon. She was essentially a condemned prisoner in her own palace.

“Perhaps we could bring here some of the navy soldiers,” Lord Aghael suggested. “We could use the additional manpower to restore order in the capital.”

“The more soldiers we bring in the more we risk the news of the robbery spreading off-island,” touted Lord Apolinano, Minister of Security.

“No one says the word robbery, you hear me?” Erin yelled. “That word is forbidden.”

“Okay, let's cut there,” the director ordered.

“What was wrong with that take?” Lord Aghael complained.

“Nothing from you, you were great as always, the problem was Erin.”

“Me?”

“Yes, you were a little wooden, there.”

“Wooden?”

“Yes, this time try to punch it up a bit, you know, actually act.”

Erin opened her mouth in offense.

“Okay, and ACTION!”

“No one says the word robbery, you hear me?” Erin cackled, pointing her finger threateningly. “That word is forbidden.”

“CUT!” the director said,

“Oh what now?” Lord Aghael groaned.

“Erin's just not coming across natural,” the director explained. “Try it again, and this time say it the way people actually sound.”

“Look, I've been an actress for my whole life, I can do this little coloring-book of yours without all the stage direction, m'kay?” Erin spat.

“Yes, your performance in all of those Doritos commercials was oscar-worthy,” the director critiqued. “Okay, let's go again.”

“Real actresses know how to take direction,” Lord Aghael suggested.

“You shut up!”

“...and ACTION!”

Erin stomped her feet around and hung up her hands menacingly. “No one says the word robbery, you hear me?” she warned, in a deep gravely voice, her mouth as wide open as possible. “THAT...WORD...IS...FORBIDDEN!”

“Okay, that was good, let's setup for the reverse angle,” the director said.

“Wha?” Erin asked, her hands still up in the air.

“That was much better,” the director affirmed, looking up from his script. “Let's have more takes like that.”

“But...I was chewing the scenery on purpose,” she stammered.

Lord Aghael patted her on the shoulder reassuringly. “Now you are finally starting to get it,” he praised.

Erin dropped her hands and looked around in confusion as cameras and gels were repositioned. “Has everyone lost their minds?”
